Our MissionAttract and Educate Young Texans Ages 12–20 in the Shooting SportsProviding junior athletes with opportunities to develop competitive marksmanship skills while learning safety, discipline, responsibility, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Safety FirstExperienced adult instructors teach firearm safety and proper range procedures as a core requirement of the program.

MarksmanshipJuniors develop competitive marksmanship skills with the AR-15 target rifle while learning the importance of dedicated practice.

Our HistoryMore than four decades of Texas junior marksmanship, competition, and teamwork.
40+ Years
A Texas Tradition BeginsInformally organized Texas state junior teams have existed for more than 40 years. Local gun clubs provided range access, equipment, adult leadership, and opportunities for junior competitors to develop their skills.
Statewide
Clubs Working TogetherJunior shooters from participating clubs began working together to compete in national competition under the banner of the Texas State Rifle Association, building a tradition of representing Texas on the national stage.
April 2018
TXJRT Is IncorporatedTexas Junior Rifle Team, Inc. was formally incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, creating a legal entity to organize and manage the statewide junior rifle team program. Continuing the TraditionTexas Junior Rifle Team, Inc. is sanctioned by the Texas State Rifle Association to compete as a TSRA entity. Today, junior athletes, coaches, affiliated clubs, families, and supporters continue working together to develop competitive shooters and proudly represent the State of Texas. |

From Local Club to State Team
How It WorksJunior athletes begin with their local affiliated club, where experienced coaches help them develop the skills, discipline, and experience needed to progress in competitive service rifle shooting.
