TEXAS JUNIOR RIFLE TEAM

Our team is made up of highly experienced adult coaches and dedicated junior athletes from affiliated shooting clubs throughout the state of Texas. Together, we form a collaborative training program focused on developing young marksmen and markswomen, ages 12 to 20, into confident, disciplined, and proficient competitors in the sport of military service rifle shooting.

Our coaching staff brings decades of combined experience in marksmanship, competition, and instruction, ensuring that each junior receives expert guidance tailored to their individual skill level and goals. Training emphasizes not only technical proficiency with the military service rifle but also the importance of firearm safety, mental focus, physical conditioning, and competitive integrity.

By fostering a structured, supportive environment, we prepare our junior members to compete at local, state, and national levels—building skills that extend beyond the range, including leadership, responsibility, and teamwork. Our ultimate mission is to cultivate the next generation of skilled, respectful, and accomplished competitive shooters who uphold the proud traditions of the sport.

Informally organized Texas State Teams have existed for over 40 years. These efforts have typically been sponsored by various local gun clubs with the ability to provide range access, equipment, and willing adult leaders. In many cases, junior shooters from these clubs collaborated to shoot in national competition under the banner of the Texas State Rifle Association with some impressive results.

The organization of a legal entity to manage these efforts was achieved with the April 2018 incorporation of “Texas Junior Rifle Team, Inc.” as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. We are sanctioned by the Texas State Rifle Association to compete as a TSRA entity.
