Sarah Morton Earns Distinguished Rifleman Badge at 2024 Texas State Match

At the 2025 Texas State Match, Sarah Morton reached one of the most prestigious milestones in competitive service rifle shooting when she earned the final points needed to become a Distinguished Rifleman while competing at Bayou Rifles.

For Sarah, the accomplishment represented the culmination of many years in the shooting sports. She began competing through the 4-H shooting sports program at Golden Triangle Gun Club at age nine before transitioning to Junior Highpower at age 13. Over the years, she continued developing her skills in service rifle competition while representing her club and Texas.

Earning her Distinguished Rifleman Badge at the Texas State Match was a fitting milestone in that journey. It marked not only an important individual accomplishment but also reflected the countless hours of practice, matches, travel, and commitment required to reach one of service rifle competition's most recognized goals.

Congratulations to Sarah Morton on becoming a Distinguished Rifleman and adding her name to the proud tradition of Texas service rifle competitors.

Brothers Make CMP History: Josh and Robert Brown Earn Distinguished Rifleman Badges

In 2025, brothers Josh and Robert Brown accomplished something remarkable while competing at the Golden Triangle Gun Club Regionals. Both earned the final points needed to become Distinguished Riflemen, reaching one of the most respected milestones in competitive service rifle shooting.

Their achievement was even more significant because they made CMP history as the first brothers to earn the Distinguished Rifleman designation at the same match. What began as a shared passion for competitive shooting became a moment the Brown brothers—and the shooting community—will not soon forget.

Earning the Distinguished Rifleman Badge requires years of dedication, practice, and outstanding performance in Excellence-in-Competition matches. Competitors must accumulate the required EIC points against skilled shooters, making the distinction a testament to consistency, discipline, and determination.

For Josh and Robert, reaching the goal together made the accomplishment particularly special. After countless hours of training and competition, the brothers were able to celebrate becoming Distinguished Riflemen side by side—and doing so at the Golden Triangle Gun Club in Texas.

Their achievement represents exactly what junior shooting programs strive to develop: commitment, perseverance, sportsmanship, and a drive to continually improve. Josh and Robert's journey also demonstrates where years of junior competition and training can lead when athletes remain committed to their goals.

Congratulations to Josh and Robert Brown on earning their Distinguished Rifleman Badges and making CMP history in 2024. Their names will forever share a unique place in competitive shooting history.
